Temperature Control for CMM Measurement
Temperature stability is one of the most critical factors affecting the accuracy of Coordinate Measuring Machines.
Both the CMM structure and the components being measured expand and contract with changes in temperature. Even small variations can result in dimensional changes that influence measurement results.
In dimensional metrology, measurements are typically referenced to a standard temperature of 20°C.
Maintaining a stable temperature environment allows the machine and the component being measured to reach thermal equilibrium. This significantly improves measurement repeatability and reduces measurement uncertainty.
Our temperature-controlled CMM enclosures are typically designed to maintain an environment of 20°C ±2°C, providing a stable inspection environment for most shop floor metrology applications.
For higher precision measurement requirements, systems can also be specified to maintain 20°C ±1°C, further reducing thermal variation and improving measurement consistency.
